Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 June 2026
Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what personal data MyChara collects, how we use it, and the rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Irish data protection law.
1. Data we collect
We collect the information you provide when you create an account (such as your name and email address), the content you post, and technical data such as device and usage information needed to run the service.
2. How we use your data
We use your data to operate MyChara, to moderate content and keep the community safe, to provide translation and accessibility features, to process subscriptions, and to communicate with you about the service.
3. Anonymous posts
When you post anonymously, your name is hidden from other members. However, we retain a link between posts and accounts internally so we can enforce our Community Guidelines and respond to safety concerns.
4. Legal basis
We process your data on the basis of performing our contract with you, your consent where required, our legitimate interests in running a safe community, and our legal obligations.
5. Sharing and storage
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run MyChara, and only as needed. Data is stored securely, and we keep it only for as long as necessary.
6. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. You can also lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission.
7. Contact
For any privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact us at info@MyChara.ie.
This is a starting template and not legal advice. Please have it reviewed by a qualified solicitor or data protection specialist before launch to ensure full GDPR compliance.
